Bounce Partnered with UCLA’s Campus Events Commission to Enhance Student Engagement

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - July 4, 2024 - Bounce is excited to announce the success of its partnership with the Campus Events Commission (CEC) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As the official community-building and events hosting platform for the CEC, Bounce streamlined the process of organizing campus events and boosted student engagement throughout early 2024.

The Campus Events Commission is one of the largest student-run, student-funded organizations at UCLA, and is dedicated to hosting events for the 32,000 undergraduate students at UCLA. The student-run organization works to connect students with the world of film, music and speakers by hosting an array of events on campus. Their partnership with Bounce focused on transforming the event marketing and ticketing process for their internal team to raise event attendance and foster a more aware and engaged student audience.

The CEC partnered with Bounce to tackle a growing challenge student-run organizations face across the country: Improving on-campus event attendance, and increasing student engagement around those activities.

Shahryar Chaudhry, a UCLA student, highlighted the challenge for students wanting to get more involved in campus life: “Attending campus events is honestly pretty difficult and annoying. First you have to find the student group hosting the event on Instagram, then you need to join their GroupMe chat to know the event details, then you need to fill out a Google Form to RSVP to the event, then you have to transfer the ticket payment over a payment app. Afterwards, I have to wait a week to see the photos posted on social media if I want to check out the content from the event. The whole process is very frustrating”

Sean Monteiro, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bounce, commented on the challenge: “Student groups are always striving to provide an engaging and memorable experience to their campus audience, but often the challenge lies in reducing the friction in the hosting and management process. Students want to connect and engage with each other within student-run communities - they just don’t have an easy way to do it.”

The CEC tackled that challenge by adopting Bounce’s platform and revamping the structure of their event programming in order to make it easier for students to attend and easier for their internal team to host. Brooklyn Bush, CEC’s Director of Social Media, shared her thoughts about the partnership: “Due to the fact that CEC's marketing and ticketing can be difficult, it was so nice to be able to work with a team that understood that and also allowed us to work together to come up with creative marketing.”

The integration of Bounce into the CEC’s event management strategy offered numerous benefits to their event programming:

  • Streamlining Event Management: Bounce provided a simplified means for the CEC team to create, host, and manage their campus events. As a result, students had a much easier time attending and getting involved with the CEC’s events.

  • Improving Event Awareness: CEC was better able to reach their audience both by being visible on the UCLA home feed inside the Bounce app which allowed UCLA students to organically discover CEC’s programming, but also through comarketing initiatives with the Bounce team to invest into their campus community.

  • Boosting Engagement at In-Person Events: As the CEC’s event awareness increased, students were more encouraged to attend events in groups rather than individually, creating a more engaging in-person atmosphere. This was a notable factor in enhancing the attendees' experience. The CEC also ran comarketing initiatives that were supported by the Bounce ambassador team at UCLA like producing co-branded merchandise and producing content at the events.

By adopting Bounce, the CEC at UCLA enhanced their event programming and made it simpler for students to engage with the CEC and each other while staying up to date on what’s happening around campus.

This partnership underscored the commitment of both Bounce and the CEC to foster a vibrant and inclusive campus community where a student’s experience on campus matters.
