Nipissing University Student Union Moves Towards a Scalable Future with Bounce

When the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) partnered with Bounce, they weren’t just adopting a new student engagement platform. They were stepping away from legacy tools and towards a future built on visibility, usability, and results.

After years of relying on platforms that overpromised and underdelivered, NUSU found a solution that was intuitive for students, powerful for staff, and supported by a team that showed up.

The Challenge: Clunky Tools and Missed Expectations

Before Bounce, NUSU had invested in digital tools that promised to modernize student engagement. In practice however, the tools made things harder.

"We were promised a lot of things that didn’t come to fruition or that were hidden behind paywalls," said Warren Lindsay, Executive Director at NUSU. "It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t seamless. It wasn’t intuitive."

For students, the experience was fragmented. Event signups through Google Forms, payments through e-transfers, RSVPs on social media, and scattered communication through group chats. For staff, it meant hours of unnecessary admin work and no easy way to track what was working.

The Solution: A Modern Platform That Just Works

After meeting the Bounce team at the Association of Managers in Canadian College University and Student Centres (AMICCUS-C) conference, NUSU decided to launch the platform for all student clubs and events in the 2025 to 2026 school year. The decision was driven by both product quality and partner support.

"There’s a lot of features. It is very intuitive. It looks and feels kind of like the baby of Facebook and Instagram, which our students are already familiar with," said Warren. "What really stood out was the backend, the analytics, the location check-ins, all of it helps us track what we’re doing in a way that’s actually useful."

Bounce’s onboarding process helped NUSU prepare for major fall programming, including the Welcome Back Barbecue, Blue Jays trips, trivia nights, and club onboarding. The platform also addressed one of NUSU’s biggest administrative challenges: streamlining event approvals and managing club finances under a single platform.

The Results: Simpler Workflows, Better Data, More Engagement

The impact is already clear across key areas of student engagement.

  • Club onboarding was completed in under two weeks.

  • Events now take minutes to publish, with built-in guest questions, RSVP tracking, and automated data capture.

  • All campus activities live in one unified feed, helping students discover events they might otherwise miss.

  • Event metrics, attendance trends, and club-level insights are now available in real time.

  • Event approvals and financial oversight are now managed in one place, reducing administrative overhead and improving accountability.

"Everything goes through one approval system now. Clubs submit their event requests, budget, and risk forms in the same place. We can see it all," said Warren.

Why This Matters

Like many student unions, NUSU needed a platform that could scale with their evolving needs and support sustainable growth in student engagement. Bounce offered more than event management tools. It provided the infrastructure to streamline operations, invest in long term impact on campus life, and build lasting connections between students.

“The NUSU team pours their heart into creating a vibrant campus life, often stretching limited resources to make a big impact,” said Ola Ogungbemile, Bounce’s customer success lead. “We’re thrilled to support NUSU with tools that will help them turn their vision into reality: a more connected, more engaged campus where every student feels they belong.”

As other nearby schools like Laurentian, Cambrian, and Lakehead evaluate new ways to support student life, NUSU’s early momentum with Bounce stands out as a case study in how to do it right.
