AMICCUS-C

The leading association for managers of Canadian Colleges and University Student Centres

AMICCUS is a national, not-for-profit organization that supports professional staff in higher education who work in student associations at post secondary institutions across Canada.

What once began as a loose network of General Managers who gathered every year to share ideas, has since grown to be one of the most influential collectives in Canadian Education.

Central to the AMICCUS ethos, the organization hosts several professional conferences every year where hundreds of the most influential education leaders in the country gather to network and discuss the next chapter in Canadian education:

AMICCUS-C East & Bounce

Bounce is an all-in-one community building and events platform built for student unions to help simplify and streamline internal operations while boosting student engagement on campus.

Bounce was a regional partner for AMICCUS during the AMICCUS-C East Conference on Nov 5th-7th, in Halifax, Nova Scotia hosting sessions on how to measure, understand, and improve the student engagement on your campus.

Session 1: “Student Engagement in Canada, and What It Means for Your Campus”

A collaborative workshop on analyzing and discussing the current state of student engagement across the country.

Takeaways:

  • Gen-Z’ers are harder to engage than any previous generation due to their accessibility to stimulus.

  • Classical communication channels are dead. This includes channels that are not contextual to the campus, like Instagram, or not stimulating enough, like email.

  • Student unions need to think holistically about their campus experience in order to create an engaging ecosystem for students.

Session 2 - “Building the happiest generation of students”

An interactive seminar on how to think about boosting, and measuring student engagement on campus, while being cognizant of your internal systems and operations.

Takeaways:

  • Providing students with in-person experiences is the key driver for improving student engagement and building a stronger community on campus.

  • Enabling clubs, and improving the events ecosystem are important levers to increase the quality, quantity and connectivity of your students’ in-person experiences.

  • Bounce is a platform built for student unions to do exactly that. With Bounce, student unions are able to enhance the events and clubs ecosystem on campus, while finally simplifying and streamlining internal operations.
